Changing the Game!
Our Goal: $1,186, 250 by October 9! Our Current Total: $1,377,755.29!
This year’s campaign theme was Changing the Game — and change the game we did! Holman employees met their pledging goals — then crushed them! — setting a new donation record of over $1,377,000, about 17% more than their campaign goals. Of the 23 operational pledging units (e.g., Holman Parts Distribution, Audi Pembroke Pines, ARI/AutoTruck Group, etc.), 16 met or exceeded their pledge goals. It was an especially great showing for Holman employees, who have a long-established history — since 1947! — of supporting the United Way.
It’s important to remember that no matter where our employees work, that money stayed right in their local communities to help their own neighbors who needed that hand-up the most. Whether their work place was Philadelphia or Fort Lauderdale, Toronto or Houston, San Diego or Minneapolis, our employee donations helped the folks that we see every day.
Days of Caring
Holman pays its employees to volunteer at United Way agencies during its Days of Caring. Different regions and operations have different United Way volunteer programs for their respective employees. In New Jersey, ARI’s Joe Korn once again organized the effort on September 24 and 25 at twenty-nine different charitable organizations in South Jersey. Last year over 200 employees volunteered (a 63% increase over 2013), and this year Joe rallied over 300 participants! Joe credits the smooth functioning of the event to his employee team leaders, who took charge at each location and kept their individual events humming along.
In Florida, Holman employees are working with United Way of Broward County to help with a meal-packing event in Fort Lauderdale on December 4. Volunteers will prepare food packages, box meals, and complete other tasks to help the nearly 425,000 people who are food insecure in Broward County.
